Sunday Gathering: Body Awareness & Death

Join Lama Agnes and Younten for a further exploration of body awareness and what light it might shed on our experience of death and dying.

“I tell you, friend, that it isn’t possible by travelling to know or see or reach a far end of the cosmos where one doesn’t take birth, age, die, pass away, or reappear. But at the same time, I tell you that there is no making an end of suffering & stress without reaching the end of the cosmos. Yet it is just within this fathom-long body, with its perception & intellect, that I declare that there is the cosmos, the origination of the cosmos, the cessation of the cosmos, and the path of practice leading to the cessation of the cosmos.”

The Buddha, from the Rohitassa Sutra

Body Awareness can be an important stepping stone on our buddhist path. In the DHB training we spend some time investigating how feeling more grounded and alive in our bodies can be a portal to unconditioned confidence.

What we also learn very quickly and directly through body awareness is that the body is not a thing, not an object. But, what is it then? And what am I in relation to it?

These questions get even hotter when we think about our death.

In this Sunday gathering we would like to invite you to explore with us the wonder of body awareness and what light it might shed on our experience of death and dying. The day will include short keynote talks, guided body awareness sessions, contemplation and time to discuss and share.

Please note that we will offer an extra teaching/practice session in the morning.
