LAH Insight into Emptiness - Self, Ego, Not-Self
Registration is now closed for this course.
Insight into Emptiness is one of the Living the Awakened Heart practice streams. It is ideal for students who are interested in deepening their view of reality using a daily meditation practice and is aimed at those who have confidence in their capacity to penetrate the view through meditation.
The practice stream runs over one year in 12 week cycles:
- Resting Naturally
- Self and Not Self
- Satipatthana Sutra
In Self, Ego, Not-Self, Lama Agnes will guide us as we explore how Buddhism seems to be associated with a notion of "no self". But what does it really mean? And how do we understand in our Teaching Tradition the quest for the self? How does it fit with our western psychological view of self? We will explore this area experientially in our meditation and season our contemplations with pointers from buddhist texts. The practice throughout will be formless meditation as a basis with investigations and play around our "self".
The group will run from Monday 24th February - Monday 2nd June. On the 31st March, 21st April and 5th May the group will meet independently, in order for her to be present for 12 full sessions Lama Agnes has kindly suggested we extended the 12 week cycle.
This is a Living the Awakened Heart practice group, not a study or reading group. Please only register if you:
1 Have worked through the themes of Discovering the Heart of Buddhism at least once. It is beneficial (but not essential) if you have also worked through Trusting the Heart of Buddhism and the Apramanas training.
2 Are able to commit to a minimum of an hour a day of meditation practice on this particular stream.
