Taking Vows in the Awakened Heart Sangha
As part of the sangha’s ongoing vision renewal, much thought has been given to the way in which we prepare for and take vows within the sangha. This is bringing about some changes to the way we are offering training and preparation for taking Refuge and Bodhisattva vows.
Anyone wishing to take Refuge or the Bodhisattva Vow with Lama Shenpen as their preceptor is encouraged to focus first of all on working through Discovering the Heart of Buddhism (DHB) and, for the Bodhisattva Vow, also Trusting the Heart of Buddhism (THB). This training supports and deepens our understanding of how Lama Shenpen is guiding us to relate to vows and the commitment we are making.
Students wishing to take vows in the Awakened Heart Sangha can follow the training pathways within the new Living the Awakened Heart practice streams to prepare for taking a vow. This training also enables us to deepen our understanding of the practice of Taking Refuge and the Bodhisattva Aspiration before deciding if we are ready to take a vow.
