A day of connection
Dear Friends
We had a wonderful Autumnal clearing day here at the Hermitage last week with volunteers coming from the local area.
We began the day by reciting the Dharma work prayer which set the tone of the day beautifully. Tamsin directed us all to be present with our work and to approach it with an attitude of connecting to the place and relating to it as our sacred space. The objective for the day wasn’t to get as much done as possible but more about the spirit in which we work together.
The volunteers who came were, John Roberts, Mike Stubbs, Karuna, Russell, Kathy Cosgrove and Emyr alongside myself, Elliot King and Tamsin. We focused on the veg patch, the ditch, general tidying and clearing a space for the orchard to flourish, and as you see the weather was kind to us. It was so lovely to see everyone rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in. It was especially heart warming to hear Dharma conversations going on, it really felt like we were deepening practice, body, speech and mind.
We ended the day with much needed cuppa and delicious banana bread (made by Tamsin), overall the day was a huge success! We each expressed how enjoyable it was to come together with this common aim of caring for this special place that we call the Hermitage.
So, I'd like to thank everyone that came together to create Sangha. We’ll be having more days like this and we even have a week long work retreat planned for next year, watch this space!
Warmest wishes - Mebar
