Join Katie, Ziji and Younten to explore Ordinary Magic: Expressiveness in Everyday Life!
We could safely say there is such a thing as unconditional expression that does not come from self or other. It manifests out of nowhere like mushrooms in a meadow, like hailstones, like thundershowers.
Trungpa Rinpoche, True Perception
The heart is mysterious and communicates itself through our body and in our speech in a precise and yet ungraspable way. Every little muscle in our face and vocal cords is able to carry that message both inwardly to ourselves and outwardly to the world and others around us. When we feel confident and connected in our hearts, our whole body holds itself and moves in an integrated kind of dance that we could never work out or describe. It is all of a piece and we can connect to the essence of that movement, its mood and its message in a direct and satisfying way. This is how openness, clarity and sensitivity express themselves naturally in our experience and our life all the time.
Lama Shenpen Hookham, 2007
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for self-exploration, self-empathy, and self-expression during the month of January. It takes courage to express ourselves fully and honestly. We aim to provide a supportive atmosphere within which we can connect to our hearts, listening for wisdom and expressing freely. You are welcome to join us--engaging as much or as little as you feel inspired to do.
Although we could say that we are practicing to awaken the artist within, that might seem overly pretentious. Whether we are baking bread, sweeping a floor, or writing a poem, we are expressing ourselves in relation to the world. During this month, we will be exploring the process of creation, providing opportunities for group practice and sharing, and exploring how best to work with our inner critic(s).
Katie will continue to offer material based on Trungpa Rinpoche's dharma art teaching with a focus on both process and the Five Buddha Families.
Ziji will be present online for mid-week sessions to facilitate our individual creative expression. Exercises influenced by the five Buddha Families and other sources will be recorded so that you can follow in your own timetable.
Younten will be holding space twice a week bringing Body Awareness practices as a way of preparing the ground and opening to our experience whilst investigating the themes arising during the retreat.
Come along for a month-long feast of richness. Sign up here to receive more information.
