Death: Daily Life Awareness teaching day

An Event for current and past students of the Sangha.

We will be hosting a series of Sunday Gatherings this year to explore the intersections between our everyday lives and the DHB themes. Each session will include some time for practice, an exploration of a DHB exercise or reflection and time to discuss with fellow students how the DHB theme manifests in our lives. This is a wonderful opportunity to set ourselves up each week and to allow our collective reflections to guide our lives.

This month the day will be led by Pati, we do hope you can join us! Here's a brief introduction from her.

Daily Life Awareness is not only about learning how to live with awareness but also how to die with it. We try to stay mindful that death is certain and therefore act in ways more conducive to happiness for ourselves and others while we are together. Accepting and facing life and death as they are and not trying to run away from suffering.

While acceptance of the inevitability of death is certainly a step in the right direction, it is not the whole of the Path to Awakening. This Path is not just about finding peace in this life and 'dying well'. The Path of Awakening is ultimately about Going Beyond Life and Death.

What does it take to follow such a path? What does it mean to go for Refuge in that which was never born and therefore cannot die?

While 'path', 'refuge' and even 'enlightenment' are nouns, we reach what they stand for by the act of following, going, walking towards... 'to pilgrimage' is a verb, a manner of practising going beyond. We will explore the meaning of pilgrimage as a way to tread the Path to Awakening, or at least, preparing ourselves for it!

Further information will be sent out nearer the time to those who've registered. Any queries email [email protected]ku.gro.sha@stneve we may not be able to help, but we'll always try!
