Denys Rinpoche Biography:

Lama Denys Rinpoche is one of the main Dharma heirs of the late Vajradhara Kalu Rinpoche (1904-1989). Denys Rinpoche is highly appreciated for the depth and clarity of his teachings.

He first studied medicine and philosophy in France and then spent more than 15 years studying, practicing, and doing retreats under the personal guidance of Kalu Rinpoche. He became an accomplished lama and in 1985 Vajradhara Kalu Rinpoche entrusted him as Vajracarya and lineage holder. Since then he has been transmitting the Dharma in many countries. He has also directed eight cycles of the traditional three-year retreat. The ninth is currently in progress in the French Alps at his main Dharma center, the Shangpa Rimay Ling.

Denys Rinpoche founded the Rimay Sangha, a yogic community, founded in 1979, that was officially recognized by the French government in 1994, after receiving the blessing of the Kentin Tai Situ Rinpoche.

He is the founder of the International Buddha University, an online university which offers anyone motivated, the opportunity to study and practice Buddha’s teaching in a contemporary expression.

Former president of the European Buddhist Union, as an engaged Buddhist he works for a society of harmony in its ecological and economical dimensions.  And in today’s world he teaches the universal, fundamental, dimension of lay ethics and spirituality. To realize it, he proposes a fundamental yogic path that conveys the a-temporal tradition in present expression. These teachings are transmitted through the “Open Mindfulness Training” (OMT) with the support of his latest book “Le Grand livre de la Pleine Présence”.
