The Path of Letting Go

Enrol on this day retreat here

"The appearances of the world are not the problem;
it's clinging to them that causes suffering" - Mahasiddha Tilopa

We are probably aware of many of the things we cling to – our status, our history, sense of safety (or unsafety), possessions, resentment, anger or fear. When we can let go of something, there is often a sense of lightness and relief – as if we have put down a burden.

The Buddha taught that clinging goes further and is more profound than this. He said that it causes all suffering: what we cling to is unreal, impermanent and unreliable. The Buddhist path is, fundamentally, to let go of clinging to the false and reveal what is true.

In this meditation workshop, Dashu will explore how we can learn to see and release our clinging at deeper and deeper levels. Then we can begin to encounter the mysterious and amazing reality of who we truly are, free from all clinging.

This workshop is open to everyone; from any tradition or none; for those who are experienced or new to meditation. The workshop aims to give us hints that deepen our practice at whatever stage we are arriving.

Dashu is a senior student and meditation teacher in the Awakened Heart Sangha He has been a student of Lama Shenpen Hookham since 2002 and has been meditating for over 30 years. Following Lama Shenpen's guidance, he aims to bring the wise teachings of the Indian and Tibetan meditation traditions into a language we can relate to in the modern West.

(This workshop draws on meditation guidance offered by the Awakened Heart Sangha, based in the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions of Indian and Tibetan Buddhism)
