Sunday 5 October 2014 9am - 5pm

The Beeches, Birmingham

After considering feedback from last October's event, followed by conversations with Lama Shenpen, Tara and Dashu, we have introduced some changes to this year's Teaching Event. Our criteria have been to make things easier to organize and run and at the same time more comfortable for you all, yet still affordable.

We have found a new venue to try out! The Beeches Hotel and Conference Centre comes recommended; it is in a lovely and relatively quiet part of Birmingham, known as the Quaker Village. Nuns' retreats have previously been held there. The overall facilities are comfortable - with nice en-suite bedrooms. We have block-booked 23 bedrooms in a private wing for the Saturday night, and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The catering is being supplied by the venue and the room we will use as a Shrine room looks out onto a green lawn and gardens.

The weekend starts on Saturday with registration from 11am, so people have the opportunity to travel greater distances on the day, and this will be followed at 12pm by a buffet lunch. At 1pm teachings start. There is the option of a meal before the evening teaching and the day finishes at 6pm. Sunday will start at 9am and finish around 5 - 6pm. The hotel has kindly agreed a significant discount so we are able to offer this to you all at just a little more than last year.

You can pay by cheque, by addressing it to The Shrimala Trust and sending it to the Hermitage. Email Dashu to make a reservation.

If you still have any inquiries after all this please email Sally Somersby at  [email protected][email protected]

We are asking for your support to help make this event special. Please book early as we have to fix numbers with the venue by 1 September. Some of you might like to bring flowers for the shrine; please let Sally know. There will be opportunities to help run the weekend.

Thank you, and we are looking forward to this special weekend!
