Breathing and giving voice are elementary to our being, to being alive.
They connect us with our surroundings, space, other people and deeply root us within ourselves.
When we open to the power of our voice we find how close to our heart it is. By sending it outwards to communicate with others it´s vibration and meaning at the same time moves our own body and soul. Delving into our voices we might experience a vibrant quality connecting us to a deeper level of our being. Space and body is vibrating, sounds and perceptions move and we and others are responding by resonance.
Voice and breath are integral to all religious practice where its powers are used to open our hearts, energise and calm.
In this workshop we will use easy body and breath work to invite our voices to open towards their full vibrancies. We will explore all kinds of sounds and vocal possibilities, playfully and always ready to listen. Doing this we might become aware of how strongly we are clinging to concepts about voice, how it should be and and what it is that makes a voice good or bad. In the vocal exploration during our time together we will aim to relax around this area more and more and move beyond our concepts of singing beautifully into the direction of giving sound from our hearts letting all colours of the voice flow freely.
Vocal and body exercises in the group and with a partner will alternate with moments of silence and listening. We will take time to meditate and connect what we found with our practice and the Dharma. Another element of the workshop is sharing our thoughts and insights in feedback circles and mindfull dialogue.
The voicework I am offering is deeply rooted in the vocal approach of the Roy-Hart-Theatre and a lifetime of practice. I work as voice trainer and performer mostly in Germany and France. I have been teaching the Dharma since 2008, being a student of Lama Shenpen since 2003 and have incorporated vocal exploration into the retreats I am leading for many years.
The workshop will run over 3 days (friday - Sunday) but you are welcome to join in for just the 2 days of Saturday and Sunday if you cannot manage the full 3 days.
