We bring our whole being – body, feelings, heart and mind, experience of phenomena – to our meditation practice. The exploration of these four aspects of our experience was taught by the Buddha Shakyamuni in the Satipathana Sutra and is traditionally taught as the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. Mindfulness or awareness practice involves noticing and questioning our assumptions about reality and learning to recognize the fundamental openness, clarity and sensitivity in our experience. During this weekend we will introduce and explore each of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness with a view to both sharpening up and deepening our meditation practice.
