Bringing Light to Difficult Times:
Practice in Everyday Life 3
with Cindy Cooper and Five Cram
26-27 July 2008
Weekend Event at St. Mary's Convent, London
Life often seems to throw problems and difficulties at us difficult relationships, difficult circumstances, difficult life issues. Our usual response is to try to escape from or change or somehow get rid of these problems. But in the process we harden to our lives and become increasingly fearful, unhappy and resentful.
This weekend we will explore how we could choose instead to open and soften to the basic goodness in us, in others and in all circumstances of life, including the very difficult. And in so doing we discover we can reach beyond our fear to find the spaciousness, wisdom and compassion that is always available to us.
We will explore how difficult times can in fact be the opportunity for us to discover our basic courage and tenderness, and the confidence to find happiness in the midst of anything life brings us.
Taught by senior students of Lama Shenpen, this weekend is part of an on-going series on Practice in Everyday Life. While entirely suitable for newcomers, some familiarity with the Discovering the Heart of Buddhism course will be is helpful.
This weekend is open to everyone, and it is fine to come to either one or both days.
Saturday: 10:00am-5:30pm
Sunday: 9:00am to 5:30pm
The cost is £15 per day. Please also bring vegetarian food for a 'bring and share' group lunch on both days. To ease serving and clearing up, food should be already prepared and ready to serve.
